Gem Refractometers
A Jewelry Refractometer measures the refractive index of your gems. Besides the RI, a refractometer will also give you the birefringence and optic sign. When possible, it is easier to obtain the optic sign from a polariscope. However, that can’t always be done, so you need the refractometer as an alternate means to determine the optic sign when necessary.
